Q. How much Dog urine would Artificial Grass have to deal with?

A. Depending on the size of your dog or how many dogs you have will be a factor in how much urine the Artificial Grass will have to deal with.

If you have a small dog or a young pup, they will need to urinate more often than larger dogs or older ones. An average size healthy dog can urinate up to 7 times a day and urinate around 1 litre of urine a day. Over time this will amount to a lot of dog urine that the Artificial Grass will have to cope with. We have designed our Quick Flow Grass and install procedure to help deal with this problem. The dogs urine needs to pass through the grass and base into the natural ground without getting absorbed into any of the installation materials. All the materials we use in our installation are non absorbent, easy to maintain and more hygienic than than any standard Artificial Grass installation.

When designing and making an Artificial Grass for dogs to use day in and day out, a lot of things need to be considered.

Permeability

One of the most important things with any Artificial Grass is its permeability. Rainwater needs to pass through the Artificial Grass, but more importantly Dog Urine needs to be able to pass through the Artificial Grass. Our new K9 Lawns Artificial Grass is fully permeable and will allow liquid to flow through the grass at a faster rate.  K9 Quick Flow Grass has an excellent drainage capacity and will allow water and liquid to pass through faster and at a higher rate than any other Artificial Grass sold on the marketplace today. The grass has been designed and manufactured with hundreds of small holes in the backing of the grass compared to any other Artificial Grass that you can buy. This makes the cleaning of K9 Quick Flow Grass easier and more hygienic.

Base Materials

Having an Artificial Grass designed for Dogs installed in your garden is only part of the overall installation. Just as important will be the base materials used. If the grass is permeable, therefore  the base materials should be permeable. Our geo-tex membrane and Quick Flow Base that we use on all of our installations are fully permeable. No doubt your dog will urinate on the lawn area more than once a day. Overtime this will be a lot of urine (liquid) that will need to pass through the K9 Quick Flow Grass and base materials. Having a permeable grass laid on top of a permeable base will allow liquids to drain into the natural ground far easier.

Pile High

The pile height of Artificial Grass for dogs is especially important. Many people think that having a noticeably shorter pile grass will be better if you have a dog using the lawn area. However most Artificial Grasses with a shorter pile tend to be produced with fewer grass blades, making the grass less suitable for dogs. Fewer grass blades will not be as soft under foot and not so robust. Using a grass with a long pile height can also have its problems, more of the dog’s waste can get caught in the longer grass blades and make it more difficult to keep clean. Our K9 Quick Flow Grass has a 30mm pile height and a very dense yarn, making it a lot softer under foot, easier to maintain and more robust.

Durability

Artificial Grass need to be durable, especially if your dog or multiple dogs are using the lawn area regularly. Our K9 Quick Flow Grass designed for dogs will give any dog a lovely soft surface to play on. Not only is our grass great for dogs to play on, its also great for children to play on. Having an Artificial Grass with an extremely high stitch rate and dense yarn makes our grass a great choice for your garden.

If you think about it, your dog will use the lawn area more times than you will. Sometimes your dog will eat, sleep, and play on the lawn and will also use it as their toilet.
